by Secretary SDJA on August 31st, 2016

 Jai Jinendra!

Paryushan Parva 2016

Tuesday 6th September till Sunday 18th September

As we approach Paryushan, we are presented once again with an excellent opportunity to make significant in-roads in embarking and furthering our individual spiritual journeys, journeys that we are all priveleged in even being able to make in the first place, journeys that we may not have the opportunity to make again for an awfully long time. So come and join the celebrations of Paryushan!
This year, we will have the benefit of Vidhvaan Nileshbhai Jain’s expert and insightful mastery of tatva -both mornings and evenings. He will try and conduct the programme in both Hindi and Gujarati.

Nileshbhai will be staying at the mandir. Please put your names down for helping out with his meals, the list is on the notice board.

Dhwaja Rohan & Swami Vatsalya Vegan Bhojan

Sunday 18th September 2016
The Dhwaja Rohan ceremony and Swami Vatsalya bhojan will take place on Sunday 18th September . The Dhwaja is a symbol of any Mandir to highlight to any Saadharmi that here resides a virtual Samovasaran in these premises! The Dhwaja Rohan (flag raising) ceremony is symbolic in cementing that Jain Dharma is well and truly alive in this 5th era. We will complement the day with the annual Swami Vatsalya Bhojan, a delightful and almost inherent event where fellow Saadharmis will come together to mark the end of Paryushan, giving us an opportunity to strengthen the unity and spirit of our Mandal. On this day, we will conduct Jinendra Maha-Abhishek at a later time to enable those that may have not participated or witnessed this wonderful and humbling ceremony before. It is an ideal opportunity to introduce this privileged activity to the younger generation and we would enourage all families with little ones to attend. They are also invited to recite a prayer if they wish to do so.
The programme for the day will be as follows:

08.00 – 09.00: Gurudev’s CD Pravachan
09.00 – 10.15: Jinendra Maha-Abhishek, Prakshalan & Puja
10.15 – 10.45: Nileshbhai’s Swadhyay
10.45 – 12.00: Childrens’ Performance & Dhwaja Rohan
12.30 – 14.30: Swami Vatsalya Bhojan at Masefield Suite, Harrow Leisure Centre, Christchurch Ave, HA3 5BD

The boli for the Dhwaja Rohan will take place on Saturday 17th September am, 2016.
To enable an accurate list for catering purposes, please give your names if you will be attending to Nileshbhai, our pujari, by Sunday 11th September at the latest. We will be subsidising the bhojan, so a £5 nominal charge will be applied to non-members. This charge will be applied to the non members over the age of 8. As every year, please inform the EC if anyone would like to donate specifically to the Swamivatsalya Bhojan to mark any personal special occasion. There is free parking for 3 hours at the leisure centre, however, A VALID TICKET MUST BE DISPLAYED.
This year we are supporting the Jain Vegans Working Group and their ‘GIVE UP DAIRY FOR PARYUSHANA’. During the festival, many of you will be planning to fast in some way.In addition to the activities you will already be planning this year, we humbly request you to also consider giving up dairy products. Avoiding dairy can help stop the violence inflicted on cows in milk production. It can also help cultivate self control, and reduce your environmental footprint.
